SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Now Chelsy parties with Becks' buddy – Daily Mail

As Prince Harry celebrated his 30th birthday with a black-tie dinner at Clarence House on Wednesday night, his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy was celebrating someone else’s anniversary just minutes away in Mayfair.

Chelsy, 27, was at Peruvian restaurant Coya where David Beckham’s close friend, football agent Dave Gardner, was hosting a dinner in honour of his 38th birthday.

Best man at Beckham’s 1999 wedding to Victoria, Gardner is said to be expecting a child with American actress Liv Tyler, although she was in New York on Wednesday.

He has a seven-year-old son from his former marriage to loo-roll heiress Davinia Taylor.

Chelsy was accompanied by her boyfriend, society jeweller Charles Goode, who has created a customised locket for Lord Of The Rings star Tyler.

They were joined by Chelsy’s close friend — and Cressida’s half-brother — Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe and Caroline Stanbury, who reportedly was once courted by Prince Andrew.

No doubt she and Chelsy had plenty to talk about.

OAP Road now needs autocue for his hits

He turns 70 in January and is still performing after a life of rock ‘n’ roll excess, so perhaps Rod Stewart should be forgiven his latest confession.

The veteran singer admits that he is using an autocue on stage to remind him of his songs’ lyrics.

‘If we put a new song in the set I’m not familiar with, I might put the words up,’ he says. ‘Everybody does that nowadays.’

His 67-year-old fellow musician Sir Elton John could clearly be seen using an autocue during a private birthday concert in Monaco in 2009.

The words were even put up for Your Song, which Sir Elton has performed for almost 40 years.

Stewart says he needs the device only for his new tracks.

‘My memory is pretty good,’ claims the hard-living singer, whose memoirs were published in 2012.

‘When I put the autobiography out, I was astounded at how my memory has held up after all the abuse over the years.’

Rosamund Pike, soon to be seen in the Hollywood adaptation of Gone Girl, seems to be in denial about her upbringing.

The actress says about living in England: ‘If you speak well, people will see you as upper-class. You know, the posh card is always played. Which isn’t strictly true. I just speak like that. I think it’s because of having a musical background.’

Or it could be because her opera-singing parents sent her to prestigious Bristol private school Badminton.

Actor Ed Stoppard enjoyed playing The Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein in Cilla, ITV’s new drama.

‘He was the Simon Cowell of his day,’ says the son of playwright Sir Tom. ‘He was the most influential person in the music business. But he was a tragic figure because he kept his homosexuality hidden, which made him very ashamed and conflicted. If I have one regret, it’s that I didn’t ring Cilla about her relationship with Brian, because he was a big part of her life.’

He should have rung Cowell, too.

Farewell to the woman who tamed James Hunt

Sarah Lomax, who is said to have ‘tamed’ womanising F1 driver James Hunt, has died at the age of 55 after battling against cancer.

She met Hunt, whose love life was portrayed in the hit film Rush last year, after he was abandoned by his first wife, Suzy Miller. Suzy left the playboy for Richard Burton.

Hunt married Sarah (left) in 1983 after arriving late for the wedding in Wiltshire because his brother had to go shopping for a tie for him.

Despite having lost all her hair during gruelling cancer treatment, Sarah appeared on the red carpet at the Rush premiere with her two sons by Hunt, Tom and Freddie.

She and Hunt, who died in 1993 aged 45, had continued to live together for the sake of their children after they separated in 1988.

‘She was a lovely woman and will be much missed by all who had the good fortune to know her,’ says a friend.
