Good news, Prince Harry – that sparkler's NOT for Chelsy Davy – Daily Mail

It’s an early birthday present for Prince Harry. His ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy — once dubbed the love of his life — has denied she is engaged to her new beau, society jeweller Charles Goode.

Chelsy, 28, and Goode, 30, have just returned from Africa, where it was reported Charles had proposed on top of Mount Mulanje. ‘It’s absolute rubbish — I’m definitely not engaged or even ready to get married,’ Chelsy tells me at the opening of King’s Road boutique Baar & Bass.

Perennially single Harry — who is 30 next week — was in an on/off relationship with lawyer Chelsy for seven years before they split in 2010. Some believe he harbours hopes of rekindling the romance.

Sandi Toksvig has often presided over — and indeed made — slightly uncharitable jokes about older people and memory loss during her eight-year tenure as host of Radio 4’s The News Quiz.

This week it emerges that, in a study of 13,000 people, over-the-counter sleeping pill Nytol has been linked to memory loss, too.

And which famous TV and radio personality was once the highly paid voice of Nytol’s adverts? Oops! (Or ‘Ups!’ as they say in Sandi’s native Danish.)

Busman’s holiday for Becky

Not even on her honeymoon can the Olympic double gold medallist Rebecca Adlington escape the pool.

Becky, 25, tied the knot with fellow swimmer, 22-year-old Harry Needs, near Leek in Staffordshire.

‘Absolutely love Italy,’ she said from her honeymoon, posting this picture online. Adlington’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity . . . inspired her to get in shape for her nuptials.

She told Hello! magazine: ‘I lost nearly two stone in the jungle and perhaps another four or five pounds since then. So it was a great kick-start, and I feel better for it.

‘But I don’t like it when people assume you’re really happy because you’re thin . . . I’m happy because I’m marrying the love of my life.’

Ukip man’s grandchild is true Blue

After helping persuade Clacton MP Douglas Carswell to defect from the Tories to Ukip, spread betting tycoon Stuart Wheeler has another reason to celebrate. The former Ukip treasurer’s 28-year-old daughter, Charlotte, has given birth to her first child.

Charlotte, who worked for Tory election supremo Lynton Crosby before setting up her own political communications company, has named her daughter Stella.

‘I have met her and she’s a very nice-looking baby,’ says Wheeler, 79. ‘Very sweet. One of my daughters says she looks like me. I had red hair when I was young.’

Charlotte, who is married to PR man Nick Claydon, appears to be fond of the colours of the Tories, to whom Wheeler donated £5 million during the 2001 election campaign before defecting to Ukip five years ago. The couple have given their daughter the middle name Blue.
